When you buy vegetables like turnips, radish or celery, sometimes you get the leaves. Please do not throw away! They are very nutritious and delicious! If you have quite a bit, I recommend to make ‘furikake’ which is perfect on rice. My ratio of sugar vs soy sauce is about 1:1 -1:1.5. If you have less leaves such as 1 daikon radish, start from 1 teaspoon of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of soy sauce. This can be kept in a fridge for a few days.
Ingredients
Leaves of 3 turnips
1/2 tablespoon of brown sugar
1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce
1 tablespoon of dry shrimp or whitebait or walnut (optional, if you don’t have it, please skip this)
vegetable oil
1 teaspoon of sesame oil
Instruction
1. Chop leaves and brunches roughly about 1-1.5cm.
2. In a fry pan, heat vegetable oil. When it is warm, add the chopped leaves and dry shrimp.
3. When the leaves are coated with oil and shrunk a little, add 1/2 tablespoon of brown sugar, and cook 1-2 mins.
4. Add 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce, and mix. Taste it, if you need more soy sauce or sugar, add as you need.
